Josephine Barstad, soprano, has recently performed Rusalka as the title role with the LAH SOW workshop in Chicago and Belinda in Badlands Opera Project’s Dido and Aeneas. Other recent roles include Santuzza in Cavalleria rusticana at Spotlight on Opera at Tulsa Opera, the title role in Rusalka: a Mermaid's Tale where she toured for young audiences all over Northern Minnesota, and Sally in Die Fledermaus with Lyric Opera of the North. Coming up in the summer, she is thrilled to perform in St. Croix Valley Opera’s Opera on the River Concert and portray the Daughter in the Miller’s Daughter with Hometown Opera Company.

Rhylan Peterson
Rhylan is a recent Luther College graduate, majoring in Theatre and heavily studying vocal performance. Some productions he was in rather recently include: Absolute Theatre's Jersey Boys (Nick Massi), as well as their production of Forever Plaid (Sparky); Hometown Opera's Gianni Schicchi (Betto di Signa); Rochester Pops Orchestra's Lazarus Requiem; and more to come! He is a proud board member of Absolute Theatre, a Baritone in Rochester's Choral Arts Ensemble, and a Pet Care Attendant at Leashes & Leads. He has two loving parents, three brothers and two sisters, one boisterous dog, four noisy birds, four crazy cats, one loving partner (Emmelyn) and many friends; all of whom he would like to thank for their unwavering support.

The Miller
Grant Holsinger
Grant is a classically trained Bass from Stillman Valley, IL. IT was there that he grew the love for theater and performance that led him to Luther College in 2013 to pursue and graduate in 2017 with a degree in vocal performance. While there he studied with Baritone, Dr.Gary Moss, and was coached by Dr. Jessica Paul and Dr. Nicholas Shaneyfelt. Often described as Rich and Full, His voice is well suited to Basso Profundo and Basso Buffo roles. Roles performed include Bogdanovitch in Franz Lehar's The Merry Widow and Don Alhambra De Bolero in Gilbert and Sullivan's The Gondoliers. While not having performed in a Full opera for several years, He is super excited to Join Hometown Opera Company to help bring some opera to SE Minnesota!
