Jordan Brown

Hey Jordan. Let's get to know you! What part do you sing?

Depends! Sometimes Baritone sometimes Tenor.

Where have you trained?

I trained at University of Northwestern- St Paul under the tutelage of Doreen Hutchings

What is one of your favorite roles, arias, or musical selections you have performed and why?

If I had to choose, my favorite role would be Dr Falke in Die Fledermaus.

It’s a very fun character to explore and Strauss’ music is so grand and exciting.

A favorite song cycle of mine is Ravel’s Don Quichotte à Dulcinée.

It follows the story of Don Quixhote and features three contrasting scenes. The first is a love song to Aldonza, the second, a prayer, and the third is a drunk song portraying intoxication. They’re very fun to act out.

What led you to become a singer?

I remember always loving music and singing but it wasn’t until college when I realized that I had more than just an enjoyment of singing. It’s almost like therapy for me. I love how the human voice is the most dynamic and flexible instrument. It’s fascinating how it all works.

What is your dream role?

Not so much a dream role but a dream show! I’d love to perform in Puccini’s La Bohème soon.

Now for something lighter.. what is your favorite Rochester restaurant?

Oooh. Hard to choose. I’d probably say Red Cow. Definitely one of the best burgers I’ve ever had.

If you could meet anyone, living or passed away, who would it be and why?

I want to meet Mozart! He’s such a genius.

What is something you are looking forward to in 2024?

Performing more music and teaching more students to love and enjoy the art of singing!
